Swanwick Success

The theme of the Interserve’s Annual Conference 2011, When Love Hurts, was captured powerfully and informatively by main speaker Malcolm Duncan from Gold Hill Church in Chalfont, who spoke to over 200 delegates who attended the event in Swanwick in mid May. His message came from Philippians 2. Copies of his three talks will be up for download here shortly.

Alongside Malcolm’s teaching from the book of Philippians, delegates were captivated by seminar speakers Andy Dipper, from Release International, who spoke powerfully about the persecuted church, and Interserve Partner Tim Green, who spoke on the building and discipling of the Asian Church through the Increase Project.

National Director Steve Bell reflected on issues of suffering, citing passages from John 11 and Isaiah 53 to make his point. One quote he used was from Simone Weil, who said

'The greatness of Christianity comes, not from the fact that is seeks a supernatural remedy for suffering but a supernatural use of suffering.'

The children’s workers took the conference theme as their lead, and made a presentation to the delegates in the main hall on the Sunday, culminating in all of the children praying for all of the adults, a powerful moment.

Several Interserve Partners on home assignment were in attendance and led the prayer sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
