Interserve's work in the United Kingdom, Urban Vision has been engaged in cross cultural relational work in towns and cities in the UK for over 25 years now.
We have been working with and reaching out to people of other faiths through local projects, as well as running training events for churches on ways that they can engage with and serve their local Asian communities.
As a result of our ‘grace’ approach, as well as our experience in this work, we are currently embarking on a programme of engagement with Members of Parliament, at Westminster, all of whom wrestle with the same issues as we all do. This is particularly relevant to MPs who have large Asian communities within their constituencies.
We have received warm welcomes from many MPs, and Steve Bell, our Director, is being invited to speak at various events about how we can all offer a grace response to people of other faiths.
We feel that advocacy in this area is an important part of our work, and we feel that God has led us to this work for this season.
Please pray for Steve and the team, as well as the parliamentarians we seek to engage with, during the coming months. It is a good and timely opportunity, we believe, and Interserve, like all other national contributors, wishes to present to this country’s decision makers a Godly response to one of the key issues of the day.
