Interserve seeks to work with the local church wherever possible. We believe that serving under the authority of local Christians, rather than seeking to impose Western traditions on people from completely different cultural backgrounds, is a healthy discipline and honours the cultures in which our Partners serve. It is also true that many national churches in the Interserve world are young and inexperienced, and the skills and experience of mature Western Christians are useful when it comes to discipling and mentoring these new believers.
Interserve has good links with national believers across the Interserve world and theological and church-based jobs are always available. Evangelists, experts in theological education, lecturers in Christian colleges, pastors, missiologists – the opportunities are literally endless.
